All Dogs Balanced Training believes in balanced training. We use state of the art E-Collar technology, prong collars, slip leads, the crate, place cot/dog bed, treats, verbal praise, belly rubs, toys, play, and any needed extra creativity for those less motivated dogs.

Just like humans, all dogs are different. We are dedicated to finding and providing each dog with what works best for them in their personalized training program. These very sophisticated, humane, and safely designed state of the art tools allow us to communicate obedience, state of mind, rules, structure and boundaries to our dogs more clearly and safely than ever before.

The light/low pressure of the Herm Sprenger Prong Collars and E-Collar Technologies E-Collar allows for very clear teaching of commands. Dogs learn that light pressure is applied when a command is asked and then immediately released once they have completed the command.

For example, when teaching ‘sit’: The dog will be next to you with the prong collar all the way at the top of the neck, directly behind the ears (with leash attached and in hand). The e-collar sits snugly fitted for good contact at mid neck. We give the dog the ‘sit’ command and simultaneously apply gentle pressure straight upwards on the leash/prong collar and hold on the e-collar remote at the dogs very low working level (usually between 2 and 10 out of 100 levels). Then when the dog sits, prong collar and e-collar pressure are released and ‘yes’ or ‘good’ is given as praise. Video examples are on our social media that you can visit directly from the Facebook and Instagram icons at the bottom of the page.

This pressure on/pressure off system is the basis of all balanced training. All commands are introduced and taught step-by-step creating a very clear picture for the dog. Eventually the E-Collar becomes an invisible leash and you gain off-leash freedom and reliability in your dog.

E-Collars allow us to whisper or shout if needed to get dog’s attention depending on the situation and levels of distractions. This is what makes E-Collars so valuable. Dogs have been conditioned to not prioritize owners over bigger (more fun) distractions like squirrels, barking at the door etc. When properly trained and conditioned to the E-Collar it creates a reliable dog that prioritizes the owner even out in high distraction settings. When dogs prioritize their owners their entire state of mind becomes calm and relaxed. They know they can now rely on you to guide and advocate for them in all situations.

THESE ARE THE 5 MAIN (but not all) TOOLS WE USE AT ALL DOGS BALANCED TRAINING

E-collar technologies e-collar

The E-Collar is our state of the art tool used to create clear, reliable expectations for the dog and empower the owners, knowing they can properly and calmly handle any situation in any setting with their dog. With proper conditioning and training the E-Collar becomes an invisible leash and allows for on and off leash reliability!

Slip Lead

A slip lead is a great tool. It does have limitations but if used properly it can be a fantastic tool on some select dogs.

herm sprenger prong collar

This tool looks harsh, but the Herm Springer Prong collar is specifically designed so you can not hurt the dog with it!! Flat buckle collars, harnesses, martingales, and even gentle leaders can crush dogs wind pipes or crank their necks and even cause more pulling, arousal and intensity in the dog. The Prong (with 4’-6’ Nylon or Leather lead) is also what we use to teach the dog proper direction of commands in conjunction with the E-Collar.

K&H Place bed

‘Place’ command and duration work is essential for creating the calm state of mind in dogs. It is also probably the most valuable command for high anxiety/energy/anxious/behavior modification dogs and or dogs who live in busy households with lots of kids and or guests coming and going.

crate

The crate is the safest place to leave your dog when you’re out of the house! Dogs thrive on structure and having a safe place to relax with no worries/creating their own jobs like getting into the trash, eating socks/couches/door frames, barking, guarding and pacing the house.
